Swine Flu Info

New Advice on Influenza Outbreak

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has put forth new guidelines regarding influenza and school closings. The CDC is now recommending that schools remain open, unless a significant percentage of confirmed cases are found within a school population. We have been continually monitoring this outbreak with the data you have provided our schools, and with the observations and recording of our health professionals. At no time have we had any elevated numbers of flu-like symptoms and, of course, no probable or confirmed cases. While all health precautions regarding influenza are still in place, the threat to our students and schools appears to be lessening.

Thank you for your cooperation, patience, and understanding.

Westbrook Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

ARRIVAL
Students arriving by car: Enter Westbrook off Busse Road and follow the traffic “U”, waiting your turn to pull up in front of the school.  A staff member will assist your student in exiting the car and entering the building.  Please remain in the line as you exit, and avoid pulling around other cars.  Please have children sitting on the right side of the car and please do not let children exit your car until an adult greets them and opens the door.
Buses will arrive and park in the bus lanes.

DISMISSAL
Students who are picked up will be dismissed from the following locations:

All preschool students (Circle of Friends and ECDEC) - Door 2. Car riders will be dismissed after the buses have pulled away from the building.  If you have a child in kindergarten and preschool, pick up your kindergartner first and then come to door 2.

Kindergarten students with Mrs. Barkowitz, Mrs. Jorgenson, Mrs. Vickers, Mrs. Zemaitis and Mrs. Zakula—Door 9.

During bus dismissal, staff members will escort students to the buses as they depart.

Please contact our Transportation Director, Vince Ramirez, at 847-385-3855, if you would like more information about riding the bus.

The school doors will close at 8:30 and 12:00, so please be on time for school.  If you arrive late, please

go to the Main Entrance. Please use the crosswalk at all times when walking in our parking lot. Thank you for your help as we make safety at Westbrook a priority!
